After Atlanta, we drove to Washington and it was pretty easy just that I was too tired on the way and stopped for a few hours of sleep. though it was not very comfortable in the car, the energy was back… maybe just 40%… still it was not bad at all.

we reached Washingont DC about 5:30pm and we parked our car at Pentagon City, a big shopping mall. we did not have the time to shop. Pentagon is not far from the mall. We walked there and started our tour in Washington DC.

This is the capital city of USA. The other Capital cities I have been to are Beijing and Paris. I found that there is some similarity among the capital cities… the buildings are huge, grant and solemn. There are a lot of history and stories about the cities and many events took place.

We took the subway to Archives. However, by the time we reached Archives, they have closed and we missed the Declaration of Independence. On the way to the White House, we saw the US Post Office, Freedom Plaza (it has a map of the washington D.C. there. ) and the Washington Monument. All the buildings look very old and veteran.

World War II Memorial was nice… there were many people there. Two regions s of the war, Pacific region and Atlantic region. the States links the two regions together.

Lincoln Memorial was really nice. I have seen the picture of his statue for so many years. It was finally great to see the actual statue. Jefferson Memorial is located some where on the small island. It was a long walk to reach there. Initially we wanted to skip it as we thought it was too long a walk to do, considering we still have a long way to go. However, in order to go back to the nearest subway station, we have to pass by it. In the end, we went in. What a nice Memorial. I liked it a lot.

Walk after walk, we finally got back to the nearest subway station. by the way, the subway stations we have visited in Washington DC all looked the same inside… by then, we were starving and thirsty. I felt great that we finally saw our car… it was like seeing home! yes the car is the home for these few days.

before midnight we left Washington for Philadelphia.

Having missed two border signs…we did it again for the third one…
the first one was Arizona… we did not prepare at all when we reached…
we missed the one for New Mexico… we could have taken one but a little bit too slow than expected… the sign just went by.
the third one, we just missed it. it is not really a sign but you know Texas… more than just a sign… it is actually a start sculpture – representing the lone star… it’s my third time in Texas already… h aha… so interesting… i really did not expect me to be here for the third time…

we are heading towards the border of New Mexico, Texas and Mexico… will see how it looks like… maybe another wall will be discovered… maybe after all, it is the same wall…=p

exciting!!!!!!!!!
we will have our first outdoor dinner there… ha ha… Thanks, shao shao for lending us the stove.. we bought two cans of gas in L.A.

Arizona is really a piece of land full of deserts. it is so dry and so hot… i was almost burnt in the fifteen minutes walking in the national park – south mountain park…

New Mexico is another place seeming to have a lot of deserts… however, there are much more green plants… we felt really heart-warming to see some green plants along the way close to New Mexico. What was really nice was that we caught the sunset while driving through New Mexico. The sunset was pretty early… it was about 8:14pm then… a little bit earlier than what I expected…

We are not driving from El Paso to San Antonio. It’s going to a 7-hour drive… i feel a little be tired and going to take a nap…

so cool!!!! looking at the border while driving… it’s so flat o the other side…

You’ve got to believe me that I am writing this note while Derek and i are on our cross-country dirve trip!!!
We set off about 7pm on Saturday, Jun 23 2007.
Beofre we left, we had some nice Indian food as both of us have not had many chances to eat Indian food. It was at Lucky… of course, the food is nice. =p
another very sweet notice is that Grace called from London… so nice,.. so sweet… wish you could be in this trip… we will have so much fun!!! enjoy your life in London… I am jealous about that… =p [always want to go and visit London]

okay… back to the topic..
we are heading towards Los Angeles from 101 -> 152 – > 5
then we will stop for a little while to rest and move on. The next stop is Phoenix, Arizona. it is so cool… while driving, we could already have fet the heat is catching up… you know in Bay area after sunset you dont event have to use airecoditioning in your car. you can just use the natural air …=)
it’s getting more humid too. we can breathe it in the air..

Going on this trip is already exciting. What makes the entire trip even more exciting is that we had so many different plans on how to cross. Finally we decided to drive a circle in USA cross about 26 different states… just to share with you what we had planned…

plan 1.0 fly to boston and rent a car and drive down (south) to New York, Philadelphia, Washington, then dirve west to Cleveland, Chicago. After Chicago, we would probably drive Southwest towards Denver passing many different cities along the way… the reason why we only mention so few cities is that we listed down the cities that either or both of us want to go… so… as simple as that…

plan 1.2 fly to New york or any where nearby and convenient… we would give Boston a miss due to time constraint…

Plan 1.3 rent a car and drive down to east coast and then fly back… however, the view is not as great as east-to-west…

Plan 2.0 Drive through all different cities that we want to go and do not make long stops… and this is the first version of the trip 2.0

1. San Francisco
2. Salt Lake City
3. Denver
4. Chicago
5. Cleveland
6. Boston
7. New York
8. Philadelphia
9. Washington D. C.
10. Atlanta
11. Austin
12. El Paso
13. Phoenix
14. Los Angeles
15. San Francisco

THE PLAN… we finally came to a conclusion after we got our nice car – Honda Accord… we were expecting a corolla as we really want to save some money from gas. this is some factor that we can affect and influence. Accord is a powerful car… we have been driving it nicely… i guess the MPG is only about 26 so far… a little bit diasappointing. we enjoy the space we had. SUV is really spatial but too expensive on gas.

so… Plan 3.0 is the reverse direction of 2.0. Instead of going to the east coast in the north, we decided to drive through via the south land… we are right now about 330 miles aways from Bay area… =p

We will keep friends updated… =p

Update soon!

long time no see!
it’s really be a LONG while…

Facebook took up most of my spare time…

had some meetings with facebook too. it was nice meeting them and talking about web 2.0 stuff…

on the other hand, I have been busy writing the cases… I need to work on my biz case and get it back to my professor for feedback.

it weighs a lot… i shall take care of it asap!

I have no idea or no plan that I was going to buy any electronics lately.
I did it.
a 500GB removable hard drive and a NEW laptop!
all together close to 700 dollars!
Hope I can receive my hard drive on Monday so that I can start the mail-in rebate process.

Where I got the good deal?
I got all on Slickdeal.net. it is really cool.
Woot.com is cool too. I got my 512 MB flash drives from there.
Of course my GPS, walking use from woot.com, too.
I have not tried purchase anything online for clothing. I think the actual shopping experience is more fun. =p
I seldom go shopping, but once I start… It’s going to make myself broke.
Now… I am broke after the two electronics…
I am getting ready for the new endeavor.
